This new ligature from the Sax manufacturer Yanagisawa is suitable for most plastic or hard rubber/ebonite Alto Sax and Clarinet mouthpieces. It's long screw and design allow it to fit both types of mouthpiece.
Named after their nickname 'Yany' the Sixys model has various features designed to enhance the tonal response and vibrance of your set-up. The 'Sixys' part of the name refers to the 6 spaces around the mouthpiece and reed that this ligature creates. The ligature features:
The layout of this ligature ensures the reed is held with the brass points, these are made in brass to allow resonance of reed and ligature in one. The ligature itself is held to the mouthpiece by four ebonite touch pieces. The idea again is to maximise the resonance by allowing complementary materials to co-exist, none of which can dampen the sound.
This is an interesting addition to the ligature market. The long one screw design is becoming popular now after BG introduced it originally with their DUO Ligatures which share similar design principals to this Yanagisawa model. The Gold Plated brass Yany model certainly responds with excellent freedom and vibrancy.
It is also possible to playtest a mouthpiece or instrument during these 15 days. The next rules apply in this case if you return items to us:
